Heather Causey is a South Carolina-certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). She began her healthcare career as a registered nurse at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, where she worked in the surgical trauma neuro intensive care unit. In that role, Heather Causey cared for critically ill patients recovering from trauma and major surgical procedures. Her responsibilities included managing ventilated patients, monitoring complex medication infusions, and serving as a charge nurse responsible for coordinating patient care within the intensive care unit. Later in her career, Heather Causey practiced as a CRNA at McLeod Loris Seacoast in South Carolina.

As a CRNA, Ms. Causey's responsibilities extend beyond administering anesthetic medications. She evaluates each patient's medical history before surgery and develops an individualized anesthesia plan. During the operation, she secures and manages the patient's airway when general anesthesia is required while continuously monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, and overall stability. After surgery, she oversees recovery from anesthesia and determines whether patients can safely transfer to the recovery unit or require continued mechanical ventilation and intensive care.

She also explains how these medications are used during surgical procedures.
